Waking up at 5:30

It doesn't give me anywhere near as much time as waking up at 5 does, but it also doesn't leave me so groggy that it feels like my brain is trying to swim through Jell-o. Not only that, but--and I didn't realize it until now--I get massive headache's when I wake up at 5. They only last until I eat, or until I go out and get into the car, but they hurt pretty bad, and I didn't get one this morning. I'm happy about that, and I'll probably keep waking up at 5:30.

As for the writing front of my life... heh. I haven't written much for the past two days. Yesterday I was so bored that I watched Arachnophobia on YouTube. (Yes, the entire movie, from beginning credits to ending credits, is on YouTube. No, the graphics AREN'T that good, since it was made 20 years ago.)

It brought back a lot of memories of why I love spiders. The way they move, the way the jumping spiders pounce... the way some kinds of spiders seem to analyze their target and match its movements. :D

Anyway, I'll see if I can get some more writing done today, after Seminary. I should be able to, but we'll see.

Good morning, people. Have a good day!

Epiphanies like Mad

I'm having epiphanies of a spiritual nature in large quantities today for some reason. I think I'm finally realizing really WHY I need God in my life. I keep getting this feeling that I need to read the Bible all the way through. I want to do it in a two-day challenge though. Just read, read, read, READ and write down all my thoughts. Then after that I'll read it in a week, taking a few hours out of my rather boring life and reading the scriptures. I'm also going to start praying in the mornings. I used to be good at doing it at night, but I've started to fall out of that.

That's all for now, except that I can't find the wipes and Kirstin (baby sister) has a really smelly diaper.

Trying to Write

I've been really trying to keep editing on a regular basis, but today's been especially hard for some reason. I can't quite seem to tear myself away from blankly staring at the screen long enough for me to click on OpenOffice.org. I think one reason may be that I'm a little scared at where I'm heading with the plot. I keep bridging large parts together with barely any connecting scenes.

This wouldn't really be all that much different than the last few days, except that I can't connect with Alyx. Usually I feel almost exactly what the character is going through, but right now I just can't connect with her on any level. It's hard enough to write a single line, let alone anything longer than a paragraph.

Hopefully I'll start writing again in a few minutes. Let's see what happens.

50 of 317

Stupid thing posted it twice before I'd even started typing anything. Fail for you, Blogger.

Before the writing stuff though, HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSH!!! My brother is 16 now, and is at the freaking Senior Prom right now. I kinda expected that, being the older brother, I'd get to go first, but I'm happy that he gets to go. His date is nice, but before yesterday, they hadn't ever met. Long story.

Anyway, I've been editing my first book/novel thing for a few days now, and the memories it's brining from what I was feeling two years ago is rather freaky. There are a few scenes that I DO NOT remember writing, or even thinking of writing, and there are others that have stayed in my mind.

Other parts I only partly remember, and some others are only faintly remembered.

One thing I didn't really expect to see a lot was how much progress I've made as a writer since then. I didn't really notice it until I read pages 5-45 of Invasi|ion. It isn't as hard to convey emotions, it's easier for me to explain things with deeper meaning and less words, and I can connect with the characters a lot easier.

Another thing would be the plot. I honestly didn't think it was THAT messed up... until I re-read it after almost six to nine months without opening the file.
Wow. It was all over the place. It was so completely random that I couldn't even find the plot arc that I'd placed in it in NaNo '08. I couldn't really feel what the characters felt, I couldn't relate, I couldn't connect with them on the level that I wanted my readers to be able to do. Now, I think I can at least get a few steps closer to the book that I want it to be. The kind of book that doesn't just stay on the shelf after a single read-through, or the kind of book that is interesting for the first twenty pages and then is such a bore that they forget about it.

I want to be able to write the kind of book that will capture the audience. I want to be able to write something that will make people stay up and lose sleep and read what the characters have gone through. I hope I'm getting closer to that goal.

For the actual plot, I haven't made that much progress. Mostly I've been re-writing things that didn't make sense. I'm only 50 pages in, but already I've made a lot of progress making the beginning of the book look like something you'd find in a book, not something you'd find on a bunch of scrap paper in someones attic.

That was all a bit ramble-y. Oh well. Have a good night, folks. :)

Fridge Leak and Sims 3

Our fridge sprung a leak yesterday, while I was at a live-action roleplay game. The fridge is fed water by a small tube that runs underneath the floor, and somehow it got a little slit. Now it's leaking down under the floor, to the side of the house and along the paint, reaching a hole and dripping right into the computer room. Good thing we have tile instead of carpet in there. -_-

I'll probably take a picture after church.

Sims 3:
Yesterday we got Sims 3 and have been playing it on my Mom's laptop. I made Kyle and Maegan from Invasi|ion on Sims and their personalities are exactly the same in the book, except Maegan has an odd cleaning tendency. I'll post screenshots of them as soon as I get the laptop back.

Oh, the other thing that bugs me is that I can't really cement what Maegan looks like in my head. I know what her body type is, and what color hair, and her hairstyle, and her eye color, but her face keeps fading and slipping. I guess I'll just have to re-read Invasi|ion and see if I can remember.

LoTR Marathon

Last night we had a party in my Grandma's basement. It included Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition and a projector, and a subwoofer and a lot of speakers. It was AWESOME!! It was also the first time I saw any part of Two Towers extended. The part after Helms Deep where Gimli and Legolas are arguing over who has more kills was hilarious.

I thought it was interesting how Gandalf made Aragorn look to the east on the fifth day. I can't remember why though... maybe it'll come back to me later.

And for those friends of mine that live near me, we're planning another LoTR party with anyone who wants to come watch with us. It'll be awesome.

I hate finding names for these darned posts

Haven't done a lot today. I slept in until 10 today, which was a really big surprise. I usually get up at 5, so sleeping in was kind of nice... except that I missed Seminary, which I love going to. -_-

Aside from that, nothing eventful happened. I left my clan on Combat Arms because no one was ever on. No point being in a clan except to socialize and play with each other, neither of which was common. I'm considering making my own clan, but I'm not quite sure why I want to join another one.

And a random chat:

Ḁñđŕě: I'm making a new duck tape wallet.
I got new tape today. Digital Camo!

me: Ooh
WUT
:O
Can I order one from you on a discount? xD

Ḁñđŕě: sure
regular price is $85
you can haz...
for limited time offer...
of....
$84.99!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

me: LOL
uh.

Ḁñđŕě: .99!

That was random. It's my blog, I don't care. :D

Writing again!

Yeah, I've finally started writing again. It's The Fall of Hope, which can be read here: https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AfxXK_5J-Q44ZGNtOWNtcnpfNWY1cnQ5Z2Y5&hl=en

I haven't been up to much else. I made another account on Combat Arms called xScoped_ , so if you play it and see him on the Charlie server, I DON'T HACK. Just because my KDR is 2.02 doesn't mean I hack. :P

Aside from that, I haven't really done anything. :)
